No. We can see anyone regardless of insurance plan. Direct Primary Care cuts out the insurance middlemen. By not billing insurance, your doctor simply works for you. You can still use your insurance for prescriptions, labs, and imaging.
Thankfully, yes! The law has recently changed to allow this starting in 2026.
Direct Primary Care is innovative and it just makes sense. Excellent health requires more than just one cookie cutter annual physical. Your best health means seeing your doctor more than once a year. A membership model makes that easy and the cost is predictable. Like a gym membership, you are investing in yourself and your family. You also have the peace of mind that you can access your highly experienced family physician when you need them. A membership also allows your doctor to focus on a smaller group of patients with longer appointments, allowing you to have personal, comprehensive care.
Health insurance is not really healthcare. Do you have your doctor’s cell phone number? Are you able to see your doctor when you need to, and on time? At Sanguine, you will be able to call or text your doctor for urgent concerns. You will see your physician, not a nurse practitioner, physician assistant or urgent care provider. Also, you do not have to worry about co-pays, deductibles, or unexpected bills. We offer access, convenience, and cost transparency.
DPC does not replace the need for health insurance. We encourage everyone to have health insurance or a health-share plan, to cover ER, hospital admissions, and specialists. But, our goal is to help you need those much less often. We can take care of 80 to 90 percent of your health care needs.
Yes, anyone can have a membership. We have opted out of medicare and medicaid. Those insurance plans will not reimburse you for a DPC membership.
We do not routinely prescribe long-term opiates or benzodiazepines. We use those medications cautiously and sparingly.
We do not routinely do hospital admissions. If you are in the hospital, we will make available any records needed. We will talk to the hospital doctors and nurses to help you have the best care. We will be ready to see you shortly after discharge.
Everyone needs vacation time! You will receive a message well in advance of any planned time away. This will allow you to make sure any urgent needs are taken care of. You can see your doctor right before or right after vacation time. If reasonable during vacation, emails and messages will be answered about once a day. If the doctor is off the grid, arrangements for urgent problems will be made with another local DPC physician. If the doctor is ill, we may need to change an in-person appointment to telehealth or a phone call, or have to reschedule.
